The winning numbers for Saturday night’s massive $1.8 billion Powerball jackpot have been drawn: 11, 23, 44, 61, 62, with a red Powerball of 17 and a Power Play multiplier of 2.
This marks the second-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history, trailing only the record $2.04 billion Powerball prize won in California back in 2022, according to the Multi-State Lottery Association, which operates the Powerball game.
Saturday’s draw was also notable for another reason: it was the 42nd consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner a record streak for the game. The last time someone hit the jackpot was on May 31, also in California.
A Closer Look at the Prize
The advertised $1.8 billion jackpot refers to the annuity option, which is paid out in 30 yearly installments, including an immediate lump sum. For those opting for a one-time payment, the cash value is estimated at $826 million before taxes, of course.
The Odds (Still Not in Your Favor)
Despite the growing jackpot sizes, the odds of winning remain the same: roughly 1 in 292.2 million. These odds are based on the number of balls used in the draw, which have changed over the years to make jackpots harder to win though they also increase the likelihood of multiple winners if more people play.
Where to Play
Powerball tickets cost $2 per play and are available in 45 states, as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
