In Slovakia, temperatures are expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius only in isolated areas on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Croatians, enduring extreme heat for two consecutive weeks, are eagerly awaiting the relief brought by impending storms. Earlier this week, reports highlighted the peak of the heatwave in Croatia, which also contributed to a fire near the popular tourist destination of Trogir.
Unbearable Heat
“Heatwaves have been hampering normal life across most of Croatia for nearly two weeks now, with no respite even during nighttime,” reported Slobodna Dalmacija, while also announcing the anticipated storms along the Adriatic coast.
Despite occasional dips below 30 degrees Celsius, these cooler periods are brief. On Thursday, the Croatian coast remains oppressively hot and humid, with temperatures ranging from 30 to 35 degrees Celsius. Inland Dalmatia will experience even higher temperatures, between 34 and 38 degrees Celsius. For comparison, Slovakia will see 35 degrees Celsius only in isolated spots.
The heatwave is expected to persist in Croatia through Friday, although weather conditions will be less stable compared to the recent days.
Temperature Drop by Ten Degrees
The heatwave is predicted to break over the weekend, with storms likely on Saturday and Sunday evening.
“Saturday will mark the end of the heatwave as frequent showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the interior and along the Adriatic coast. Inland temperatures will drop by up to ten degrees in some areas. On Sunday, rainfall will be less frequent for most of the day, but increased instability is expected overnight into Monday and at the beginning of next week,” forecasted Croatian meteorologist Tea Blažević for the local news outlet N1.
Croatians, having endured prolonged extreme heat, are looking forward to the cooler temperatures and the relief that the upcoming storms promise to bring.
