The new Mafia 4 will be titled The Old Country, transporting players to the early days of organized crime in Sicily.

On Tuesday, during Gamescom Opening Night Live, game developers 2K Games and Hangar 13 officially announced the fourth installment of the legendary Mafia series. Titled The Old Country, this new entry will take players to Sicily in the 20th century, exploring the origins of organized crime in this gritty setting. The game returns to the franchise’s roots, highlighting the early days of the mafia and its formation.

The game is set for release in 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. 2K has promised to reveal more details about the release in December. During yesterday’s event, they only unveiled a short teaser, giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come.

Nick Baynes, president of Hangar 13, the studio owned by Take-Two, commented on the new title: “Mafia continues to focus on delivering a deep, linear narrative with the classic feel of a mafia film.

The Mafia franchise was first introduced in 2002 and, according to Newsroom, has sold over 34 million copies on consoles and PC. The original game was developed by the Czech team Illusion Softworks and became beloved by fans for its compelling story, immersive setting, atmosphere, and well-crafted characters and dialogue.
