Flying taxis begin testing in Dubai

Dubai is on track to become the first city in the world to integrate flying cars into everyday life, with the transportation revolution expected to launch by 2026.

The city has started constructing its first vertiport—dedicated hubs for vertical take-off and landing aircraft—at Dubai International Airport. These vertiports will enable flying taxis to operate without traditional runways, making them ideal for urban environments. Plans are underway to establish additional vertiports across the city, with four locations already confirmed: Dubai International Airport, Downtown Dubai, the Dubai Marina, and Palm Jumeirah, according to local reports from Time Out.

Current tests for aerotaxis are being conducted in California, with further trials set to begin in the deserts of the United Arab Emirates. The first vertiport is expected to be operational by early 2026, allowing for affordable flights between some of Dubai’s busiest landmarks.

This groundbreaking initiative could soon transform the way residents and visitors navigate the city, offering a futuristic and efficient alternative to traditional transportation.
