The Honda is testing an renewable energy system aboard in the ISS, placing to deploy it on the lunar surface.
Honda is developing advanced technology that can generate electricity and oxygen using sunlight and water – for those who can be available in some lunar soils. The system already used in Honda’s electric vehicles is now being adapted for use in space. According to AFP, the company plans to ride at the International Space Station (ISS), which aims to support the permanent life on space and Earth.
To complete the ISS tests, Honda is partnered with American aerospace companies Sierra Space and TEC-Masters. The goal is to validate the reliability of the system in the class before considering its application on the moon.
Many countries, including the United States and China, are actively preparing for long -term human presence on the moon. Honda has been collaborating for years through its partnership with Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (Jaxa) at NASA’s Artemis Lunar program.
Honda is not the only vehicle manufacturer to invest in space. In January, the Toyota -world’s largest car manufacturer – announced an investment of $ 44 million into the Japanese rocket startup interstestler technologies, and highlighted the growing interest of the auto industry in space innovation.
