Instagram rolls out new music bio feature

Instagram has launched a new feature that allows users to add a song directly to their profile.

This update, introduced on August 23, is drawing comparisons to the once-popular social network, Myspace, where users could also feature music on their pages.

The parent company Meta announced that users can now choose a song to appear in their bio section. According to The Verge, the song will remain visible in the profile until the user decides to remove or replace it. Instagram shared screenshots showing how the music will be displayed, integrated into the profile’s description area.

To add a song, users can navigate to the “Edit Profile” section and search for a track from Instagram’s licensed music library. From there, they can select a 30-second portion of the song to display on their profile. The feature is rolling out gradually, so it may take some time before it becomes available to all users.

Instagram is debuting this feature with a special collaboration alongside pop star Sabrina Carpenter. Her hit Espresso made waves this summer, and now her official Instagram profile includes a teaser for her unreleased track, Taste. Instagram noted that this new music feature will be the only way to preview the song before its official release.
