One of the streets in Vienna will be named after Alexander Dubcek

Alexander Dubček became a globally recognized figure through his reform efforts known as the Prague Spring.

In Donaustadt, the 22nd district of Vienna, a street will be named after the former Czechoslovak reform communist Alexander Dubček. This decision was made by the local council, according to a Wednesday report by the APA agency, as informed by TASR.

According to Vienna’s Social Democratic Mayor Michael Ludwig, Alexander Dubcek Street will be located between Lackenjöchelgasse and Pfalzgasse.

Dubcek shaped the face of modern Europe with his dedication to democracy, freedom, and human rights,” said Ludwig.

“I am pleased that Alexander Dubček Street will commemorate the work of an exceptional figure, a reform-oriented politician who fought for a democratic and humane society,” added the Vienna mayor.
