The new Czech geolocation game, Medieval Uprising, which puts you in the shoes of a Hussite commander, is now available in open alpha and looking for testers.
We’ve all learned in history class about the Hussites – ordinary people who rose up as heroes to fight against the corrupt and greedy church. But every war comes at a cost, and the reality wasn’t as black and white as it seems. The idea that Roman mercenaries fled at the sound of the hymn “Ye Who Are Warriors of God” because of weak beliefs may be more myth than fact.
Medieval Uprising places you in the role of a Hussite leader traveling through a war-torn land. As a commander, you’ll encounter common people and their struggles, forcing you to make difficult choices. Will you share your resources with a starving village, leave it to its fate, or take what little they have in the name of a greater cause? Players will interact with various NPCs, but often, these interactions will lead to violent clashes, testing your leadership in strategic battles. Along the way, you’ll recruit new units and train them to form your ultimate team.
The game blends different genres to offer a unique experience. As a geolocation-based game, players must physically move to real-world locations to explore in-game sites like churches and blacksmiths. These visits help boost morale or enhance the weapons of your soldiers.
Randomly generated quest locations and interactions motivate players to explore their surroundings from new perspectives. Another key aspect of the game is deckbuilding. Each unit is represented by a card, and players build their army by creating a personalized deck.
Through card collection and training, units can specialize according to the player’s preference. For instance, a young squire can evolve into a heavily armored knight or a cunning alchemist. Players can also customize their strategies by equipping units with specific weapons. Battles, whether against other players or AI, take place on a chessboard-like battlefield, where the vast combination of units and weapons ensures no two encounters are exactly alike.
Medieval Uprising has now entered its open alpha phase and is actively seeking testers. Join their Discord community and contribute to shaping the game. For more information, visit medieval.wtf.
