Princess of Wales, Kate, has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy.
On Friday, British Princess Catherine announced that she is “making progress” in her cancer treatment and will attend the ceremonial Trooping the Colour parade on Saturday, held in honor of King Charles III’s birthday in central London. This will be her first public appearance since the beginning of the year, reports TASR via the AP.
Catherine (42) announced in a video at the end of March that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy. She did not specify the type of cancer.
“I’m making progress, but as anyone undergoing chemotherapy knows, there are good and bad days,” Kate stated, adding that she still has “several months” of treatment ahead.
“I look forward to attending the parade this weekend with my family to celebrate the King’s birthday and hope to join more public events over the summer. However, I know I am not out of the woods yet,” Kate said.
Friday’s announcement is a significant milestone but does not signal a full return to her public duties. The palace also released a new photo of Kate, reportedly taken earlier this week in Windsor. The photograph shows her casually dressed in jeans and a blazer, posing by a tree. According to the palace, the King was delighted by her planned participation in Trooping the Colour. Kate also expressed gratitude to the public for their overwhelming support.
Trooping the Colour traditionally takes place in June, though Charles’s actual birthday is on November 14. British monarchs celebrate their birthdays twice—once privately and once with a public celebration.
King Charles III, 75, was also diagnosed with cancer in February and has only recently begun to gradually return to his public duties.
