Luxury brand Rabanne revealed its latest collection at Paris Fashion Week yesterday, with stars like Camila Cabello and Cardi B in attendance.
Following the success at the MTV VMA Awards, where American singer Chappell Roan wore a medieval-inspired chainmail outfit, Rabanne has made headlines again. During the showcase of its Spring/Summer 2025 collection in Paris, the brand introduced three extraordinary handbags, highlighting its innovative approach to fashion.
The centerpiece was dubbed the “world’s most expensive handbag” by its creators. This unique 1969 Nano model is crafted from 18-karat gold, according to WWD. It pays tribute to Paco Rabanne’s iconic gold and diamond dress made for French fashion icon Françoise Hardy in 1968. That dress, featuring 1,000 gold plates and 300 carats of diamonds, became a symbol of luxury and innovation in fashion at the time.
Paco Rabanne became known for using unconventional materials like metal, paper, and plastic in his designs, and the golden bag presented on the runway continues his revolutionary vision. The bag was handcrafted in collaboration with French jeweler Arthus Bertrand, requiring 100 hours of meticulous work. Its price is set at an astounding €250,000.
In addition to the golden handbag, Rabanne also revealed two other unique models. One is made from Murano glass, created by artisans from Venini, a renowned glassmaking house founded in Venice in 1921. The second is a ceramic bag, crafted in collaboration with Parisian workshop Astier de Villatte, known for preserving traditional 18th-century ceramic techniques.
The collection debuted at Paris Fashion Week, with celebrities like Camila Cabello and Cardi B seated in the front row.
