Kris Kristofferson, the award-winning American country singer and actor, passed away on Saturday at the age of 88. According to BBC, he died peacefully at his home in Hawaii, surrounded by family.
Kristofferson became famous for songs like Me and Bobby McGee, Help Me Make It Through the Night, and Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down. He also starred in the hit film A Star is Born.
Born in Brownsville, Texas, on June 22, 1936, Kristofferson believed his work would help bring respect to country music. Many of his songs became major hits.
He won three Grammy Awards and, after making his acting debut in 1971, earned a Golden Globe for his portrayal of John Norman Howard in A Star is Born, where he starred alongside popular actress Barbra Streisand.
