Although the rapper was acquitted of the charges in 1996, his record was only cleared yesterday.

In 1993, rapper Snoop Dogg was involved in an altercation during which he and his bodyguard were accused of fatally shooting a gang member. While the bodyguard was said to be responsible for the shooting, Snoop was driving the vehicle from which the shots were fired.

Though he was acquitted of all charges after the 1996 trial, it wasn’t until yesterday that his criminal record was officially expunged, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Earlier this year, Snoop Dogg requested the court to seal his criminal record, effectively making the case disappear from public access. This means he would not need to disclose the incident when pursuing activities such as studying or purchasing property. Criminal records are also typically required when applying for jobs. The court granted his request, officially clearing him of the charges.
