Space enthusiasts eagerly anticipate whether the company can replicate the success of its October test, reports AFP.
Due to unfavorable weather conditions, the private American company SpaceX delayed the seventh test flight of its Starship spacecraft and Super Heavy booster rocket on Wednesday. The launch is now scheduled for Thursday, the company announced on social media platform X.
The test is set to begin at 4:00 PM local time (11:00 PM CET). Space enthusiasts are keen to see if the company can replicate the success of its October test, where the booster rocket successfully returned to the launch pad after liftoff and was caught by massive mechanical arms.
However, during the sixth test in November, this maneuver failed. Instead, the booster rocket fell into the Gulf of Mexico.
SpaceX refers to the Starship spacecraft and its Super Heavy booster collectively as the Starship Launch System. This fully reusable transportation system is designed to carry both crew and cargo to Earth’s orbit, the Moon, Mars, and other distant destinations. According to the company, it is the most powerful system ever built, capable of carrying up to 150 tons of payload into space.
