SpaceX’s crew Dragon Spacecraft has successfully moved a four-evening crew at the International Space Station (ISS), replacing two spacecrafts, who have been stranded there for more than nine months.
On Sunday, the SpaceX spacecraft docked with the ISS, who brought a new team of astronauts to relieve NASA’s crew members Barry “Buch” Wilmor and Sunita Williams. According to the Associated Press, the pair was originally scheduled to stay for only one week, but due to technical issues got stuck at the station for more than nine months due to technical issues.
Crew Dragon Capsules arrived at the ISS in less than a day after riding in a Falcon 9 rocket from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. On arrival, new astronauts were warmly welcomed by Wilmore and Williams. Over the next few days, they will undergo training to familiarize themselves with ISS operations before the departure of the outgoing crew.
A astronauts trapped to return to a spacex capsule
Wilmore and Williams are set to return to Earth in a SpaceX capsule, which ends a mission that began in June last year. His extended migration was due to complications with the Boeing Starlineer spacecraft, which was conducting his first crew test flight after docking at ISS.
NASA eventually decided to return Starlineer to Earth without passengers, instead chosen instead of waiting for a backup spacex spacecraft. Replacement crew dragon capsules arrived in September with two-person crew and two vacant seats. However, further delays due to repair of an essential battery, once again pushed back the long -awaited return of astronauts.
