Shannen Doherty passed away at the age of 53. According to the Daily Mail, the actress succumbed to breast cancer.

“With a heavy heart, I confirm that actress Shannen Doherty has left us. On Saturday, July 13th, after a long battle, she succumbed to cancer,” said her longtime publicist Leslie Sloane in an exclusive statement to People magazine. She added, “Shannen, a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, was surrounded by her loved ones, including her dog Bowie, in her final moments. The family now requests privacy to grieve in peace.”

Shannen Doherty made her film debut in “Father Murphy,” but gained greater recognition thanks to Michael Landon, who cast her in “Little House: A New Beginning.” She became a star through the series “Our House,” where she acted alongside Wilford Brimley and Deidre Hall.

However, she will forever be remembered by audiences as Brenda Walsh from the series “Beverly Hills, 90210,” a role she was dismissed from after the fourth season. Later, she also starred in the popular series “Charmed.

Brenda from “Beverly Hills” Battled Cancer

Shannen Doherty first received the devastating news of her breast cancer diagnosis in 2015. A lump was found in her breast, and it was later confirmed to be malignant.

The actress underwent chemotherapy, and for a while, it seemed she was on the road to recovery. However, a year later, she was diagnosed again, this time with the disease having progressed to stage four.

Doherty fought bravely for many years, but on July 13, 2024, she ultimately lost her battle.
