In 1978, the Toyota car manufacturer launched the production of the first generation of the iconic Supra. At that time, the sports model was known as the Celica XX/Celica Supra, and it was not until the introduction of the third generation that the names were separated. Since 1986, they have been two distinct vehicles. This year marks the 45th anniversary of the creation of one of the most famous Japanese sports models.
On this occasion, Toyota has prepared a special version of the car, focusing primarily on visual enhancements. The exterior is adorned with a distinctive Plasma Orange paint, complemented by Supra decals along the sides of the body. The car sits on 19-inch wheels finished in matte black, and the brake calipers feature black color with the GR logo. One of its distinctive features is the unique rear spoiler, designed to mimic the lines of the luggage compartment lid.
We do not currently have official interior photos, but the automaker mentions that the special edition will feature new upholstery with contrasting orange stitching, creating an identical color combination to the exterior. Minor enhancements are expected for the digital gauges, and the car will also include a carbon plaque that signifies its celebratory edition status. The Supra 45th Anniversary Edition will be produced in a limited quantity of only 900 units.
The heart of the limited edition is exclusively a 3.0-liter inline-six engine, delivering a power output of 250 kW/340 horsepower. Buyers will have the choice between an 8-speed automatic transmission and a 6-speed manual transmission with shortened gear ratios. The engine bay has received additional reinforcement. Considering that the special edition is based on the lightweight version, the vehicle is approximately 40 kilograms lighter compared to the regular Supra.
