The Vietnamese state news agency VNA reported that several explosions occurred during the fire. However, the exact number of people present in the building at the time of the fire was not immediately clear.

The fire was successfully put out after approximately an hour.

The building, located in a narrow alleyway with 12 rental rooms, had its ground floor used for selling and repairing electric bicycles, AFP specifies.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire. In September of last year, a fire in a residential complex in Hanoi resulted in the deaths of 56 people, including three children.
