European aircraft manufacturer Airbus delivered fewer than 50 planes to customers in August, marking a significant drop compared to the previous month.
This decline raises concerns about the company’s ability to meet its reduced annual target of 770 deliveries, which had already been adjusted downward earlier this year.
In a recent announcement, Airbus revealed it delivered 47 aircraft in August, down from 77 in July. So far this year, the company has delivered 447 planes. While the target of 770 deliveries for the year is still in place, it represents a reduction from the original goal of 800 planes, a decision made in June due to supply chain challenges.
Chloe Lemarie, an analyst at Jefferies, noted that August is traditionally a slower month for deliveries. However, she emphasized that Airbus will need to increase its monthly output significantly if it hopes to achieve its full-year goal. To meet the target, Airbus would need to boost its monthly deliveries by approximately 7% compared to last year’s average.
