Car Attack in Mannheim Investigated as Double Homicide

According to the prosecution, the criminals of Monday’s car attack in Manhem, who were two dead and many injured, have a criminal record and suffer from a mental illness.

Officials have initiated an investigation into several cases of double murder and attempt to murder in a 40 -year -old suspect. During a press conference on Monday evening, Manhem’s Chief Prosecutor, Romeo Shasler confirmed the details reported by the DPA news agency.

Pre -criminal history


The suspected, a German citizen of Ludwigshfen, who works as a gardener, has many pre -crimes. More than a decade ago, he sentenced a small jail for the attack. He also has a record of driving under the influence and in 2018, Facebook was fined for provoking hatred after posting inflammatory comments.

According to the manhem police chief Ulrik Skeffer, the man deliberately went into the crowd. Investigators are now focusing on the possibility that he is suffering from a mental illness, the registrar said.

Shot himself during arrest


During his arrest, the suspect shot himself in the mouth with a gas pistol, confirming the head of the Baden-Wortamburg State Criminal Police Office (LKA) Andreas Stanger. His position is now stable, but he is unable to provide a statement.

Police located the suspected vehicle within twelve minutes of the attack. The incident claimed the life of an 83 -year -old woman and a 54 -year -old man, while eleven others suffered injuries, some of them serious. Investigators believe that the attack was politically motivated.
