American artist Chris Brown has been released on bail from a London court after having been held in connection with a supposed 2023 assault.

Even with the court case, the artist should proceed with his scheduled European and UK tour later this June, according to BBC.

Brown, 36, was arrested last Thursday by police in Britain. He faces charges stemming from an incident that allegedly took place on February 19, 2023, at a club near Hanover Square in downtown London. The artist is said to have assaulted a music producer with a tequila bottle, according to BBC.

£5 Million Bail Set

Brown failed to appear personally for Wednesday’s hearing at Southwark Crown Court. The judge granted him conditional release on £5 million bail — money to secure his appearance for the next hearing. If he is in breach of bail conditions, the funds will be lost.

The R&B singer has also had run-ins with the law in the past. He was arrested and later pleaded guilty to assaulting then-girlfriend and fellow artist Rihanna back in 2009 — a very publicized case that made headlines around the world.
