Eminem has released a new music video for the second single from his upcoming album, aiming to definitively end his alter ego, Slim Shady. Fans can look forward to the album’s release on July 12.

Eminem’s latest music video, “Tobey,” featuring Big Sean and Babytron, has been unveiled. Directed by Cole Bennett from Lyrical Lemonade, the video transports the trio of rappers back to their hometown of Detroit.

“Tobey” marks the second single from Eminem’s highly anticipated twelfth studio album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce), slated for release on July 12. The lead-up to this album has been shrouded in mystery, with cryptic hints alluding to the symbolic demise of Slim Shady. The promotional campaign kicked off with a mock obituary for the “controversial rapper” published in the Detroit Free Press, headlined “Slim Shady Leaves Lasting Impressions,” adding to the intrigue with videos shared on Instagram.

Eminem aims to conclusively lay to rest his Slim Shady persona with this new album. He introduced the project through a viral sketch titled Detroit Murder Files, styled like a true crime series. The narrative explores Eminem’s journey to his end, posing the pivotal question, “Who killed Slim Shady?”

This latest endeavor signifies a major transition in Eminem’s career, as he looks to evolve beyond the character that has been both a hallmark and a controversy throughout his storied career.
