
The World Health Organization (WHO) member states have officially agreed to a draft epidemic treaty, which aims to improve the reaction to global readiness and future epidemic.
The long -anticipated agreement introduced several measures for prevention, innovation and international cooperation.The success deal was finalized late Tuesday after years of conversation. According to WHO and AFP, the treaty has now been reviewed in the upcoming World Health Assembly in May.
The United Nations Health Agency said, “After intensive talks for more than three years, the member states which have taken an important step in strengthening the preparation of global epidemic by drafting a proposed agreement to consider in the next World Health Assembly.”
The treaty underlines concrete tasks to prevent future epidemic, expand research and development capabilities, and to know about information about medical technologies, expertise and manufacturing. It also asks for the raising of a skilled, multi -woller national and global workforce to respond to health emergencies.
Importantly, the draft confirms the sovereignty of individual countries in the management of public health within its limits. This clearly states that no provision in the agreement does not give the right to direct, apply, modify or mandate national laws or policies.
“Today, the nations of the world made history in Geneva,” who said that WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Gabreyasus. “By reaching the consensus on this epidemic agreement, he signed a generation -generated agreement to make the world safe, and proved that multilateralism is alive and well. Even in a divided world, the country can come together to face common land and shared threats.”
