Millwall FC has announced that they will not comment further on the tragic event at this time.
Football club Millwall has announced the death of goalkeeper Matija Sarkic at the age of 26. The young athlete felt unwell after returning from national duty, and his friends called an ambulance to his apartment in the city of Budva, reports The Guardian.
The Professional Footballers’ Association and the football league also expressed their condolences. Sarkic joined Millwall a year ago.
“Everyone at the club extends their love and condolences to Matija’s family and friends during this incredibly sad time. The club will not be making any further comments at this time and asks for the privacy of Matija’s family to be respected,” Millwall said in a statement.
