In a recent podcast, Kanye West shared how autism shapes his life and creative process, admitting it drives him to approach things differently.
West, who now goes by Ye, remains a constant headline-maker. In addition to working on his upcoming albums Bully and Vultures 3, he stirred up conversation at the Grammys, where his nearly nude wife Bianca Censori captured widespread attention. Just hours ago, Ye appeared on The Download podcast, hosted by musician and media personality Justin LaBoy.
During the interview, Ye spoke candidly about his career, success, and mental health. In the past, he was open about living with bipolar disorder. He first revealed his diagnosis publicly in 2018 with the release of his album Ye, which featured the phrase on its cover: “I hate being bi-polar, it’s awesome.”
His then-wife Kim Kardashian also acknowledged in 2020 that his bipolar disorder significantly impacted his behavior, making life challenging for him and their family. Ye later admitted to sometimes avoiding medication, fearing it would stifle his creativity.
However, he now dismisses that diagnosis entirely. Ye stated that he is actually on the autism spectrum, crediting his current wife Bianca for helping him reach this realization. According to West, she introduced him to a specialist who helped him better understand his neurodivergence.
