Vehicles are currently in the testing phase.

German luxury car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz plans to soon introduce vehicles equipped with an automated driving system that, under certain conditions, can autonomously navigate German highways at speeds of up to 95 kilometers per hour. This information comes from a report by Reuters, citing a statement from the company on Monday.

Pending approval from the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), expected by the end of 2024, Mercedes-Benz aims to begin selling its Drive Pilot system next year. This technology enables the vehicle to take over driving as long as there is a car in front and visibility is clear.

The automotive industry categorizes autonomous driving into five levels, ranging from level one, which includes basic cruise control, to level five, representing fully autonomous vehicles. Mercedes vehicles in Germany will operate at level 3 with this new system.

Mercedes-Benz also announced plans to increase the speed at which its autonomous driving system can be used to 130 kilometers per hour, although no specific timeline was provided. The company has already conducted level 3 system tests in Beijing and has received approval to use it on certain highways in California and Nevada.
