Rumors have been circulating for the past two years, and now it’s finally becoming a reality.
The hit series Peaky Blinders will indeed continue on Netflix, not as a new seventh season, but as a full-length feature film. The streaming service has officially given it the green light. Netflix has also confirmed that Oscar-winner Cillian Murphy will return in the lead role as the fearless gang leader from Birmingham.
This film adaptation marks a new chapter for the Peaky Blinders franchise, although it’s not a complete surprise. Series creator Steven Knight has been discussing a feature film for several years, but it had never reached the final stages—until now. Netflix is bringing us all the good news.
The new film will be produced in collaboration with the BBC and the original creators. This means that the talented duo of Steven Knight and Tom Harper will once again helm the project, convincing the main cast, including Cillian Murphy, to return. We last saw Tommy Shelby at the end of the sixth season, riding away on a white horse, determined to start a new life. However, that won’t be easy. Steven Knight promises a full-scale return: “No limits, we’ll show Peaky Blinders in open warfare,” he assures.
Despite the exciting news, we’ll have to wait a bit longer for the new beginning of Peaky Blinders. It’s unclear when filming will start or what stage the production is currently in. Nevertheless, a 2026 release date seems likely.
