Playstation unveils PS5 PRO: a powerful upgrade

The PlayStation 5 Pro has officially been announced, boasting nearly 50% better performance than its predecessor. The new console will hit the market on November 7, with a price tag of €799.99.

During the launch presentation, renowned American video game designer Mark Cerny highlighted three key improvements the PS5 Pro brings over the original PS5. The most significant is a near 50% increase in CPU performance, allowing games to run at 60 FPS without compromising on high detail or resolution settings.

Players will no longer need to choose between performance mode (smoother gameplay) and quality mode (better graphics). With the PS5 Pro, even the performance mode will offer the same graphical fidelity as quality mode, ensuring both smoothness and visual excellence.

Another major upgrade comes in the form of enhanced ray tracing technology, improving lighting and reflections in real-time. This is particularly noticeable in games like Gran Turismo 7, where car surfaces will reflect their surroundings dynamically during races. Finally, the console will offer higher resolution capabilities, thanks to AI-powered software enhancements.

For players interested in physical disc-based games, an additional €120 will be required for a disc drive attachment. One factor contributing to the higher price point is the inclusion of a 2TB SSD, as opposed to the standard 1TB. However, Sony may release a more affordable version with a 1TB SSD in the future.
