A sad day for the world of tennis as one of its greatest players, Rafael Nadal, has announced his retirement.

The Spanish tennis legend, at 38 years old, has decided to end his illustrious career, during which he won 22 Grand Slam titles. His final match will take place at the Davis Cup Finals in Malaga.

Nadal shared a farewell video on Instagram, reflecting on his career highlights and expressing gratitude to his team, family, fans, and rivals.

Of course, it was a difficult decision that took me some time. But in life, everything has a beginning and an end,” Nadal said in the video. “I believe now is the right time to close a career that has been long and far more successful than I ever imagined,” the tennis star added.

Nadal’s last match was at the Paris Olympics, but his performance over the past two seasons had been affected by injuries. Despite this, over his 23-year career, he led Spain to five Davis Cup titles and claimed multiple championships at the French Open, US Open, Australian Open, and Wimbledon.
