IShowSpeed, the 19-year-old American streamer famous for his energetic IRL content, went head-to-head with Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles in a 50-meter sprint on Wednesday.
The race was officiated by the world’s top YouTuber, Mr. Beast, who also kicked off the start. At stake was a $100,000 charity prize, which ultimately went unclaimed by Speed.
The race proved to be surprisingly close, with Speed narrowly missing victory in a nail-biting finish. Disputing his loss, Speed even questioned the outcome. Lyles responded by offering him a rematch and an invitation to train together, with the proposed rematch set at a distance of 100 meters, the very distance in which Lyles clinched his gold medal at the recent Olympic Games.
Lyles is celebrated not only for his athletic achievements but also for his outspoken nature. Recently, he sparked controversy by challenging the NBA’s claim to the “world champion” title for its finals, highlighting that the teams involved compete only within the U.S. His comments drew mixed reactions from NBA players, adding another layer to his public persona.
