The government of the United Arab Emirates has unveiled its vision for constructing a new Sphere. The first Sphere, located in Las Vegas, has enjoyed tremendous success. The Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi shared details of the project on LinkedIn.

“We are partnering with Sphere Entertainment Co. to bring the second Sphere in the world to Abu Dhabi. This will boost tourism in the Emirates and strengthen Abu Dhabi’s global position as a leading destination for entertainment, sports, and culture,” the post stated.

Investors have not yet revealed when the project will be completed. Construction of the Sphere in the U.S. took four years, with its grand opening in the fall of last year.

According to ABC News, the cost of the Las Vegas venue reached $2.3 billion (€2.1 billion). The financing for the UAE version will be handled by the local government. Like the one in Las Vegas, the Abu Dhabi Sphere will host both cultural and sports events.
