After the success of The Invisible Man, director Leigh Whannell is back with another thrilling film. Under the Blumhouse banner, he’s bringing another iconic monster to the big screen with Wolf Man.
At the height of Marvel’s success, Universal humorously attempted to replicate the concept of a shared cinematic universe with its own “Dark Universe.” This universe was set to feature classic film monsters like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. However, after the failure of the first film, The Mummy starring Tom Cruise, the rest of the planned series, including Bride of Frankenstein and Creature from the Black Lagoon (with a star-studded cast featuring Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, and others), never made it to production.
Thankfully, independent horror studio Blumhouse stepped up to the challenge and successfully launched its own “monsterverse” with the critically acclaimed horror-thriller The Invisible Man. Now, director Leigh Whannell returns with his next creation, Wolf Man.
According to the official synopsis, Wolf Man is a bloodthirsty reimagining of the classic monster story, where a man and his family are relentlessly hunted and terrorized by a deadly predator.
In an exciting twist, the lead role will be played by the talented Christopher Abbott, a significant upgrade from the originally cast Ryan Gosling. Julia Garner, known for her standout performance in Ozark, will take on the role of his wife.
With an intense and gripping storyline, Wolf Man promises to deliver the same chills and thrills that fans have come to expect from Whannell and Blumhouse. Be sure to check out the teaser above.
