This Google Maps feature could save your money

Google Maps is one of the most popular tools in the tech giant’s portfolio, known for being an incredibly handy app.

It comes packed with several useful features that can help drivers improve their routes and even save money on their journeys. Recently, users on the Quora platform highlighted a feature that might be particularly beneficial.

You may have heard about a function designed to save fuel or energy by offering you a more economical route when searching for directions. According to the Navigation Settings, “Maps will suggest fuel-efficient routes when arrival times are similar.”

However, Google might have overlooked one crucial detail: it doesn’t remind users (even when the app is first launched) that to get the most accurate, fuel-efficient route, you need to specify your vehicle’s engine type. Not everyone drives a petrol-powered car by default.

To ensure Google Maps can truly find the most economical route for your vehicle, it’s a good idea to double-check your settings and select the correct engine type. After all, a highway route might be more fuel-efficient for petrol or diesel vehicles, whereas an electric vehicle might benefit from a different path.

By taking a moment to update this setting, you could potentially save a significant amount on fuel costs over time, making your travels not only more efficient but also more economical.
