Three Climbers Killed by Lightning Strike in Tyrol

Three climbers lost their lives in the Austrian tirewrole region after lightning during a sudden change in the weather conditions on Mount Mitgspitz.

According to the DPA, the tragic incident was reported by the local police on Monday.

The victims include a married couple, both 60 years of age and 62 -year -old brother of wife.



Electric strike on mittagsspitze

The trio was climbing 2,600 meters high Mittagsspit on Sunday when the severe weather was unexpectedly killed. After failing to return the valley as per the group’s plan, the family members concerned alerted the local authorities.

A search operation was started, including deployment of a rescue helicopter. The helicopter team later discovered three bodies near a marked hiking mark at an altitude of about 2,300 meters. Medical personnel later confirmed that all three climbers died of injuries in the electric strike.
