Destructive Winds and Dangerous Storm Surges Expected

Tropical Storm Beryl, which formed over the Atlantic Ocean on Friday, has intensified into a Category 1 hurricane. The American National Hurricane Center (NHC) also warned that the hurricane could strengthen further to Category 3 or higher before reaching the Leeward Islands. This information was reported by TASR based on a Reuters report.

Beryl is expected to bring destructive winds and life-threatening storm surges. The center of the hurricane is forecasted to reach the Leeward Islands late Sunday night or Monday.

The NHC has issued a hurricane warning for the island of Barbados, noting that hurricane conditions are expected to begin there on Sunday night. Other islands in the archipelago have been warned of a potential hurricane threat. Tropical storms may occur on Martinique, Dominica, and Tobago.
