WHO Urges Stronger Global Action Against Measles

The World Health Organization (WHO) has called for intense efforts to deal with the spread of measles, warning that the highly infectious virus pose a global danger.

According to AFP, the disease is currently spreading to 58 countries including the United States, where two children have died.Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Kate O’Brien, who is the director of vaccination, emphasized the seriousness of the situation and the power of prevention. He said, “Don’t forget – measles is one of the most infectious viral diseases. If it is spreading anywhere, it is a danger everywhere,” she said.

The Geneva-based organization underlined that measles vaccine is both safe and highly effective. O’Brien, US President Donald Trump and Health Secretary Robert F. Avoiding Kennedy Junior’s direct criticism, which has been a vocal vaccine doubt and recently faced backlash to not enough to include deadly outbreaks, especially in Texas, where hundreds of cases have been reported. Kennedy has recently accepted the effectiveness of measles vaccine.

Decline in vaccination rate for being guilty
