The closing ceremony of the Olympic Games is set to be a star-studded event, with performances from some of the biggest names in music, similar to the opening ceremony that featured Lady Gaga and Celine Dion.
This Sunday, as the Summer Olympics in Paris come to an end, audiences can look forward to performances by well-known musicians, all of whom will showcase their talents from Los Angeles. While some performances will be live, others have been pre-recorded.
The musical segment of the closing ceremony is being coordinated by producer Ben Winston, in collaboration with French producers. Winston is known for his work on the Grammy Awards and Adele’s One Night Only special.
The choice of these artists is intentional, as the next Summer Olympics will be held in Los Angeles, a city closely connected to the performers selected for this event.
The immensely popular Billie Eilish, who recently released her third album Hit Me Hard and Soft, hails from Los Angeles. Her 2021 concert film was even titled Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles. Snoop Dogg, a prominent figure throughout this year’s Olympics, is from Long Beach, California, and his rap is iconic to the West Coast. The Red Hot Chili Peppers, who emerged from the Los Angeles punk scene in the 1980s, are also on the lineup, with their hit song Californication being a tribute to their home state.
