On Saturday, the streets of Prague’s Karlín district witnessed the roar of a Formula 1 car speeding through the neighborhood. Adding to the thrill was legendary Scottish driver David Coulthard, who took the wheel of his RB7.
The event, Red Bull Showrun, drew 17,000 spectators despite the scorching weather. The action-packed program kicked off with motorcycle stunt rider Arūnas Gibieža, whose gravity-defying tricks left the crowd in awe.
Drifting enthusiasts Elias Hountondji and Marco Zakouřil also took center stage, demonstrating their precision behind the wheel. In their BMW M4 G82 cars, each boasting over 1,000 horsepower, they performed drifts of the highest caliber, showcasing their skills to an excited audience.
The highlight of the day was, without a doubt, David Coulthard’s performance. On a one-kilometer track, the Scottish driver wowed fans with his car’s ability to accelerate from 0 to 200 km/h in just five seconds. The deafening roar of the racing engine, which powered Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber to 12 Grand Prix wins in 2011, created an unforgettable atmosphere for all present.
What Does the Racing Legend Love About Prague?
This was not Coulthard’s first time visiting Prague, and the city has clearly made an impression on him. “I’ve fallen in love with this city and always enjoy coming back. I have many friends here and, in fact, visit Prague more often than my hometown in Scotland. I adore Charles Bridge and the stunning architecture. Bringing a Formula 1 car to the heart of this beautiful city was a real treat, and I hope the audience enjoyed it as much as I did,” Coulthard shared. He also added that experiencing the sound and smell of a Formula 1 car in person is something everyone should do, as it can never be fully appreciated through a TV screen.
In a candid interview, the racing icon also revealed his perfectionist side, not just on the track but in his personal life. “I like to keep everything spotless at home. For example, my shoes all have their designated place, perfectly organized down to the smallest detail,” Coulthard said with a smile.
