Emmanuel Macron welcomed President Biden to Paris as he begins his state visit to France

Both presidents laid a wreath at the nearby Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and observed a minute of silence.

On Saturday, French President Emmanuel Macron greeted U.S. President Joe Biden with military honors at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, marking the start of Biden’s state visit to France, according to reports from DPA and AFP.

A banquet is scheduled for the evening.

Biden has been in France since Wednesday, participating in commemorative events for the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy during World War II.

In his speech on Friday, the American president drew parallels between the threats posed by Nazi Germany and those posed by current dictators and authoritarian regimes.
