Several people have fallen ill in the coastal Croatian town of Kaštel Lukšić due to water contamination.

Tap water was found to be contaminated with fecal matter.

Authorities are investigating the incident after multiple residents reported health issues. The contamination was first reported by Dnevnik.hr.

The police stated, “After several individuals experienced health problems, the Institute of Public Health was notified, and water samples were taken for analysis.

The local water company suspects deliberate contamination. According to Telegram.hr, no pipeline cracks were found. The company has warned residents against drinking tap water and has begun flushing the entire water system.

We took samples from two randomly selected wells in the area, and the analysis results were disastrous. The water was full of bacteria and fecal matter, confirming our theory that contaminated water was illegally introduced into our system,” said Ivica Perić, the technical director of Split Waterworks.
