The journey through Tolkien’s world continues as the highly anticipated follow-up to the popular series, based on the author’s Silmarillion, premieres on Prime Video on August 29.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has unveiled a new trailer, which debuted last Friday, July 26, at Comic-Con. Created by Patrick McKay and John D. Payne, the new series is directed by Charlotte Brändström and features a cast including Morfydd Clark, Robert Aramayo, Nicholas Woodeson, and Will Keen. The second season will stream on Prime Video starting August 29.
Set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, the series attempts to adapt Tolkien’s rich history of this mythical era. The new season builds on the ambitions of the first, thrusting even the most vulnerable characters into the darkness of a world teetering on the brink of disaster. With no army or allies, the Dark Lord must rely on his own strength to regain power after his banishment. His goal is to create the Rings of Power, which will enable him to unite all the nations of Middle-earth for his malevolent purposes.
As tensions rise, the forces of good fight valiantly to protect what truly matters—their bonds with one another. The new season will consist of eight episodes and will introduce new characters, including Tom Bombadil.
