Tragedies on Mont Blanc Result in Three Deaths

Rescue teams were unable to locate an additional climber. The past weekend on Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Europe, saw the tragic loss of three climbers and one still missing.

Two Italian climbers lost their lives near Mont Greuvetta on the Italian side of Mont Blanc after falling approximately 200 meters. A third member of their group called for help, according to local media reports.

On the French side of Mont Blanc, a 34-year-old man from Paris also met a fatal end, plummeting several meters near the Italian border. The climber was not secured by a rope, as reported by APA. The alert was raised by his companion, who was with him at the time. The body was located using a rescue helicopter from Chamonix.

Another climber fell into a canyon from a massif under the Gonella hut; rescue teams have yet to locate this individual.

Mont Blanc, straddling the border between France and Italy, is the tallest mountain in the Alps, standing at 4,805.59 meters according to recent measurements, as noted by APA.
