Beloved Yellowstone Gets a New Spin-Off

Luke Grimes is set to return as Kayce Dutton in a new Yellowstone spin-off, where his character joins the U.S. Marshals and hunts down Montana’s most dangerous fugitives.

CBS is developing Y: Marshals, a fresh chapter in the Yellowstone universe. Luke Grimes will reprise his role as Kayce Dutton, who joins an elite U.S. Marshals unit. According to the official synopsis, the series will follow Kayce as he “uses his unique blend of cowboy grit and Navy SEAL training to deliver justice in the rugged terrain of Montana.” The show is expected to premiere in spring 2026.

The spin-off is created by Spencer Hudnut and executive produced by Hudnut alongside Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, John Linson, Art Linson, Grimes, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, and Bob Yari.

In other CBS programming news, the legal drama Matlock has been renewed for a second season and will return this fall. The network is also launching several new shows, including Harlan Coben’s Final Twist, a true-crime series, and The Road, a country music competition.
