Disney is set to bring another beloved animated classic to life with a live-action adaptation of Tangled.
While rumors about the project have circulated for years, Disney has not officially confirmed the film until now. According to Variety, not only is the remake officially in the works, but discussions are underway to secure Michael Gracey, director of The Greatest Showman, as the film’s director.
Fans have long speculated about potential casting choices for the lead roles in this musical tale. Popular contenders for the role of Rapunzel, the long-haired princess, include Amanda Seyfried, Florence Pugh, and Sabrina Carpenter. Other fan favorites include Glen Powell as the charming thief Flynn Rider and Cher as the villainous Mother Gothel.
The original Tangled follows the story of Rapunzel, a lost princess with magical hair that grants healing and rejuvenating powers. Confined to a tall tower, Rapunzel has lived her life in isolation until she encounters Flynn Rider, a rogue bandit. Together, they embark on a daring adventure to escape danger, discovering the true meaning of freedom, friendship, and love along the way.
This remake adds to Disney’s growing list of live-action adaptations, offering fans a fresh take on an already cherished story.
