An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale struck Croatia on Tuesday evening, with tremors felt as far as neighboring Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The quake’s epicenter was located 15 kilometers from the town of Starigrad Paklenica, near the country’s western coast. Local authorities reported no immediate damage or casualties, according to Hina and AFP.
The earthquake occurred at 6:43 p.m. in Zadar County, a popular tourist region. Although no major consequences were reported, the tremors were strong enough to be felt across the border in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Croatia experienced a devastating earthquake in 2020 that claimed seven lives, displaced hundreds, and caused significant structural damage, AFP recalls.
