Vémola avenged his 2019 loss to Végh. The rematch of the century took place after five years.
PRAGUE. Karlos Vémola emerged victorious in the “rematch of the century” during the Oktagon 58 event.
Vémola overwhelmed Végh early in the second round with a takedown, successfully executing an arm triangle choke. The show at Prague’s Fortuna Arena began with the traditional grand entrances of both fighters. Végh entered the cage first, accompanied by Rytmus performing his song “Attila” live.
Vémola chose a less conventional entrance song, “C’est la vie” by Karel Gott, reminiscent of the announcement of the Czech fighter’s career end.
The fight started at a very fast pace, with Vémola immediately adopting an aggressive tactic from the opening round, quickly taking Végh down to the ground.
The Slovak managed to escape and the rest of the round continued standing. Both fighters exchanged hard strikes, but Vémola was more active.
The second round followed a similar pattern, with Vémola quickly taking Végh down again.
This time, it was the end for Végh. Karlos secured a chokehold, which Attila tapped out to after a moment, resulting in his defeat.
