Netflix is grappling with one of its most significant security breaches to date, as a large number of its upcoming animated films and series have leaked online.
These leaks include highly anticipated titles slated for release in 2024 and 2025, such as Spellbound, the first major animated feature from Skydance Animation for Netflix, and the second season of the popular series Arcane.
Among the leaked content are titles like Terminator Zero, Plankton: The Movie, Jentry Chau vs. The Underworld, Ranma 1/2, Dan Da Dan, The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish, and Arcane Season 2.
In addition to Netflix’s own content, the leaks also include films that are not yet owned by the streaming giant. This includes anime like Mononoke the Movie: Phantom in the Rain and Re– Starting Life in Another World. The leaks were first reported by TVLaint.
It is believed that these leaks may have originated from external partners rather than from Netflix itself. The company has not yet issued a public statement regarding the situation. However, if you come across any of these leaked clips or films, it is advisable to wait for the official release. There’s a strong possibility that the leaked versions lack many of the final touches, including special effects, animations, or other elements still in production.
Watching these leaked versions is not only unethical but also potentially harmful to the company. The success and future of these titles often depend on viewership numbers and ratings on Netflix, which are crucial for determining whether they will get sequels. Viewing leaked content is particularly disrespectful to the creators, who have voiced their concerns on social media. Kass Chapa, a 2D animator, expressed her frustration on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “It’s incredibly disrespectful and really annoying.”
This is not the first time animated content has been leaked. Last year, two Nickelodeon projects were leaked online: the feature film Saving Private Bikini: Sandy the Squirrel Intervenes and an episode of The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish!. However, this recent breach marks the largest leak of films and series in Netflix’s history.
