Quentin Tarantino’s films always manage to surprise us, and his planned tenth and final movie, titled “The Movie Critic,” was no exception. However, contrary to expectations, this project will not see the light of day.
Deadline has confirmed that “The Movie Critic,” which was to be Tarantino’s swan song, will not proceed to filming. The director changed his mind at the last minute and is now back to square one, contemplating what his final cinematic venture will be.
The director had intended to cast Brad Pitt in the lead role, marking their third collaboration after “Inglourious Basterds” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” There were also rumors that many other actors from his previous films would appear, all backed by Sony, which was very pleased with the results of his last film.
However, the legendary “Pulp Fiction” director spent the last few weeks rewriting the script, only to realize he was still unsatisfied and that it probably made no sense to proceed. The project, reportedly about a movie critic writing for a pornographic magazine, is thus canceled, a rare occurrence at this stage of development and all the more surprising since it was called off by the director and screenwriter himself.
Whatever the director ultimately decides, it’s clear that he is painstakingly careful in selecting his latest film and refuses to settle for anything less than sheer brilliance.
