Tom Felton is heading to Broadway and back to Draco Malfoy.
After all these years being away from the character that made him a household name, Harry Potter actor Tom Felton is going back to the world of magic — though not on the silver screen. Rather, the actor will be joining the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the first instance of an original film cast member becoming an official part of the hit stage production.
Set 19 years following the end of the original saga, Cursed Child follows Harry, Hermione, Ron, and Draco as adults struggling with parenthood while their children begin their own journeys at Hogwarts. The story offers fans an older, mature perspective on the characters they grew up reading about, blending in nostalgia with newer conflicts and generational shifts.
Felton announced the news during a live interview on NBC’s Today, calling it an emotional and surreal homecoming. He’ll be on stage in November 2025 for a 19-week run, which will continue through spring 2026.
“This feels really, really personal,” Felton said. “It’s very, very easy to get emotional being part of this again.”
He shared that the emotional impact hit immediately — especially during costume preparations.
“As soon as they put the blond wig on me for the first time, I just started crying,” he admitted. “It felt like stepping right back into the past.”
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child first premiered in London’s West End in 2016, before opening on Broadway in 2018. Since then, it has remained a fan favorite with a strong global following. Felton’s casting is expected to bring a fresh wave of excitement — and a powerful sense of continuity — to an already beloved production.
For longtime fans, it’s not just a performance — it’s a reunion nearly two decades in the making.
