
The cute animated film, inspired by Mexican culture, is getting a sequel.
Atmospheric cocoa, with its signature Bartertsac Touch, is ready to hit theaters in 2029. Disney and Pixers are returning to the land of the dead to bring the audience to the followers of the origin to be acclaimed by critics.
Disney CEO Bob Igar announced the project during the company’s annual shareholder meeting, as reported by the variety. The film is still in its early development stages and is expected to be released in about four years. While the description of the plot is unknown, Igar indicated that Coco 2 will once again provide humor, heart and adventure.
A legacy of success
The original Coco (2017) was a massive hit, winning two Academy Awards and grossed over $ 800 million worldwide. The film chased 12-year-old Miguel on a trip to The Land of the Deads, where he exposed his family’s hidden past while chasing his dream of becoming a musician-despite his family ban on music. The film’s prestigious song, Reimber Me, won the Oscar for the best original song, while Coco himself earned the award for the best animated feature.
Director Lee Anchich is ready to return, this time co-direction with Adrian Molina. The film will be produced by Mark Nielsen, which is known for his work on Toy Story 4 and Inside Out 2. The pixa has continued to expand its most successful franchise, including the upcoming sequel Toy Story 5 and The Incredibles 3.
