The popular sandbox game Minecraft, first released in 2011, is set to make its big-screen debut with a new animated movie. Minecraft, which holds the title of the best-selling video game of all time with over 300 million copies sold, will serve as the inspiration for the film, titled A Minecraft Movie.
Produced by Warner Bros. and directed by Jared Hess, this film is not just a children’s animation. Instead, it promises to deliver a mix of fun, action, and appearances by some legendary actors. Jason Momoa and Jack Black are among the film’s star-studded cast.
The story will focus on four main characters who are transported into the Minecraft world through a mysterious portal. Once there, they meet a character named Steve, played by Jack Black, who is an expert in navigating the blocky realm.
